Emergency preparedness is a critical aspect of CCH operations. It is essential that all staff and physicians receive training and understand their roles and responsibilities in this field.
Summary of responsibilities
It is expected that you will be also be trained to function in both the Day Surgery Unit and the Operating Room (Pre-op and Local Nurse).
As a member of the interdisciplinary team, the role of Registered Nurse (RN) at CCH is to deliver safe, effective, patient-centered, ethical, and evidenced-based nursing care. The overall function of the RN is to assist our patients and community to manage clinical conditions and transitions and maximize their self-care abilities. The RN also acts as a resource for members of the care team.
Requirements of the job
- Undergraduate degree (4 year) or community college diploma in nursing
- Certificate of registration from the College of Nurses of Ontario
- Current certification in Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS)
- Valid Basic Life Support (BCLS) certification

- Demonstrated commitment to patient safety
- Clinical knowledge and skills with central lines
- Two (2) or more years Surgical experience (within the last 3 years)
- Two (2) or more years of Critical Care experience (within last 3 years)
OR course or enrolled and completed within 1 year of hire - Completion of critical care self-learning modules
- Functional level in both official languages (oral and written in English; oral in French – and testing completed)
