EMSL Canada has an opening for a full time Laboratory Assistant for its Calgary, AB laboratory. The laboratory assistant will work to perform a variety of duties from clerical such as log in/data entry sample receipt to sample preparation prior to analysis.
- Responsibilities include but are not limited to:
- Receive environmental samples, review paperwork for completeness for all incoming samples to ensure accuracy and enter data into LIMS system (will train).
- Make sure all samples are placed in proper storage area to await analysis.
- Preparation of environmental samples prior to analysis for Asbestos Air Sample Prep, Asbestos Bulk Sample Prep, and
- Asbestos Gravimetric Prep- any areas of prep related to client work (will train).
- Some entry level analysis.
- Cleaning and maintenance of laboratory equipment and housekeeping.
- Must have good laboratory practices.
- Organize and order supplies as needed for laboratory use.
- Assist with customer service and responding to client inquiries via phone and e-mail.
- Laboratory clerical duties such as answering phones, filing, faxing and copying.
Requirements:
- High School degree or equivalent required.
- Must be able to work independently and with a team.
- Must be able to distinguish between colors to perform analysis.
- Must be able to work in a fast-paced setting, multi-task, and prioritize assignments.
- Must have good communication, computer, typing, and organizational skills.
- Must be able to stand and sit for various lengths of time.
- Must be able to lift up to 30 pounds.
Available Shift:
- Monday to Friday 9:00 a.m. to 5:30 p.m.
