The Graduate School of Architecture, Planning, and Preservation is working to help re-configure the functions of architecture and urban planning in the context of a university of research, considering alternative approaches to the conduct of practice as inquiry and new research methods. It is committed to addressing new challenges in the constructed environment professions and to developing opportunities for interdisciplinary engagement.
Scholarship Benefits:
The Graduate School of Architecture, Planning, and Preservation is funded by the Dean’s Office to support currently enrolled students experiencing financial hardship while in school and plans to award up to 30 scholarships of $5,000 each during the 2022-2023 academic year at Columbia University.
Eligibility Requirements:
In order to be considered, candidates are required to be in a full-time degree program and have demonstrated good academic achievement.
Application Process:
It is necessary for applicants to begin by submitting their application for admission through the university’s application portal. All students eligible for the award will be considered on the basis of their application for admission, they must submit all documents directly, not through a third-party agent or vendor, with the following exceptions: submissions through the U.S. Department of State’s Fulbright Program and its three partner agencies IIE, LASPAU, and AMIDEAST; submissions through the Danish-American Fulbright Commission (DAF); and submissions through Deutscher Akademischer Austauschdienst (DAAD). In addition, the applicant must attest to the accuracy and authenticity of all information and documents submitted to Columbia.

- To be admitted, applicants must have earned a bachelor’s degree from an accredited institution by the date they enroll in the Graduate School.
- A written consent must be provided to participate in a verification process. All students must sign and date an authorization and release form to complete the verification process.
- With the exception of approved dual degree programs, students may not simultaneously attend more than one Columbia program and may not be enrolled in more than one program at an institution in the same semester.
