Purpose:

Ancillary Services provides a wide range of professionally managed campus services and amenities to enhance the student experience and support York University’s mission, vision and priorities. With a commitment to sustainability, equity, diversity and inclusion, Ancillary Services works with internal and external partners to provide exceptional experiences and enhance the quality of campus life in alignment with the University’s core values.To transport community members on and off campus in a safe and efficient manner utilizing large passenger buses.

Education:

Must hold valid Ontario Class ‘C’ licence and Air Brakes Certificate (‘Z’ endorsement) in good standing. Must have a good driving record and ability to drive vehicles in a safe manner.

Experience:

A minimum of two (2) years’ recent experience (as defined as within the last 5 years’) driving large passenger buses is required. One (1) year recent experience in customer service

Skills:

Must have demonstrated ability to speak, read, write and comprehend English as the incumbent receives and conveys messages by two-way radios in the vehicles, provides excellent customer service to customers such as greeting clients, communicating important information to passengers, answering inquiries, etc. Must be able to operate a mobile device for the purposes of responding to calls and verifying passenger bookings.Respects diversity and promotes inclusion in the workplace, contributes to an inclusive and diverse team-based, positive work environment. Recognizes diversity of abilities and adapt content, tone, medium, and style to audience to be inclusive. Committed to continuous learning and skill building in diversity, inclusive and cultural competence.

Notes: Must be able to lift and load heavy materialsBasic French language skills are desirable. Successful candidates must satisfactorily complete all mandatory University training sessions.The successful applicant for this position shall be required to work shifts as assigned.Please note: This position requires the candidate to produce a valid Driver’s Licence and a satisfactory Driver’s Record and a Vulnerable Sector Check satisfactory to the University prior to commencement of employment.
